Man pulled from sinking boat on Potomac River near Woodbridge

Updated | The boat that was taking on water is described as a bass fishing boat, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Matt Smolksy.

Original post | A man was pulled from a sinking boat off Featherstone Shores.

Fire and rescue crews were called at 12:03 for a report of a boater in distress. They traced an SOS call to the area of Potomac River and Farm Creek near Woodbridge.

OWL Volunteer Fire Department boats were dispatched to the water, and crews spotted the sinking boat. They were able to rescue one person on board, according to initial reports.

That person was taken to nearby Leesylvania State Park. He did not need medical care, according to reports.

A crew from BoatUS was called to tow the boat to shore.
