Woodbridge, Va. — Pregnant women in the Potomac Communities with similar due dates have a new option for prenatal care.

The Greater Prince William Community Health Center in Woodbridge launched its first “CenteringPregnancy” this month and is now looking for members of a new group forming now for January.

The group will meet twice per month with one of the health center’s certified midwives, and each session begins with a private physical assessment of each group participant. Afterward, the group will discuss things like nutrition, hygiene, breathing and relaxation tips, child birth, breastfeed and post-partum care.

“The group setting offers so many advantages for our expectant mothers,” said Lisa Wiener, Prenatal Director at the Health Center in a press release. “In addition to learning information and skills from the Health Center’s experienced providers, the entire program is really tailored to the individual. We will talk about everything from physical concerns to how group members are feeling emotionally.”

The first “CenteringPregnancy” group meeting at the health center began on Dec. 7 for women who have due dates in June. The next group will begin Jan. 11.

Those who want more information about the group can call the health center at 703-680-7950.
