3.5 ounces of pot, edibles found in car of woman who drove into crash scene

Police said a woman who was high on marijuana drove into a crash scene near Braddock Road on Thanksgiving morning.

At 7:43 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 28), as Virginia State Police were still investigating and working to clear the multi-vehicle crashes (same one caused by the wrong-way DUI driver at 3 a.m.) in the northbound lanes of I-495 in Fairfax County, a vehicle drove into the closed-off scene at the 52 mile marker.

A Virginia trooper stopped the vehicle to prevent it from driving into the crash scene. As the driver asked for directions on how to get around the scene, the trooper observed inside the vehicle a large amount of marijuana in plain view. Further investigation yielded approximately 3.5 ounces of marijuana and a large quantity of marijuana “edibles” from inside the vehicle.

Samantha Markos, 34, of Temple Hills, Md., was charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Markos was transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
