Pipe replacement in Vista Woods to cause lane closures

Residents and motorists in the Vista Woods subdivision in Stafford County can expect daytime single lane closures and brief detours over two weeks in November to allow crews to replace 19 drainage pipes in the neighborhood ahead of upcoming paving work next year.

  • Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are swapping out deteriorated corrugated metal drainage pipes that are original to the neighborhood.
  • Crews will be excavating the existing pipes underneath the road and installing new plastic pipes.
  • These pipe replacements must be accomplished ahead of a community-wide paving of state-maintained roads in Vista Woods scheduled for 2020.

This month, motorists can expect to see crews and equipment at work on numerous roads in Vista Woods from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Work is anticipated to continue through Friday, Nov. 22, weather permitting. If additional work dates are needed, they will be scheduled to avoid the Thanksgiving holiday.
