Crime Watch: Man Stabbed, Gunman Enters Adult Store

Malicious Wounding – On December 2nd at 8:05PM, police responded to Ashdale Plz located at 2898 Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) for a stabbing. The victim, a 44 year old man – no fixed, reported to police that the accused, a known acquaintance, had stabbed him in the back. The incident appears to have stemmed from an on going feud between the two men. The victim was flown to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accused fled prior to police arrival but was located a short time later.

Arrested:

Daniel Martin CLAY, 39, of 14040 Matthews Dr in Woodbridge

Charged with malicious wounding

Attempted Malicious Wounding / Domestic Related – On December 3rdat 5:56AM, police responded to the 16500 block of Sherwood Pl in Woodbridge (22191) for a domestic. The victim, a 34 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed a broom stick and struck her in the arm before grabbing a kitchen knife. Another occupant of the residence was able to stop the confrontation. The victim was able to leave the residence and contacted police. The victim sustained minor injuries. The accused was arrested without further incident.

Arrested:

Oscar Rene GOMEZ-GALEAS, 34, of the 16500 block of Sherwood Pl in Woodbridge. Charged with domestic assault and battery and attempted malicious wounding. Court date and bond information unavailable

Larcenies from Vehicles – On November 28th at 1:17AM, police responded to the 15200 block of Crescent St in Woodbridge (22193) for a suspicious person. Caller reported to police that he heard his car alarm going off and, upon investigating the noise, he saw three unknown person(s), later identified as the below listed accused individuals, fleeing the area on foot. Police responded to the area and located the accused individuals trying to open car doors. All were detained without incident. The three accused individuals were later arrested and charged. In their possession was a flashlight and gloves. Arrested:

Angel CASTELLON, 18, of 14731 Barksdale St in Woodbridge. Charged with 2 counts of tampering with auto, 1 count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny and 1 count of possession of burglarious tools Court date unavailable, held on a $5,000 secured bond Andre Kenneth BRICE, 19, of 2946 Wetherburn Ct in Woodbridg. Charged with 1 count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny and 1 count of possession of burglarious tools. Court date unavailable, held WITHOUT bond. Vicky Samantha FLORES, 19, of 14731 Barksdale St in Woodbridge. Charged with 1 count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Court date unavailable, held on a $3,000 secured bond.

Attempted Armed Robbery – On December 4th at 11:55PM, police responded to the MVC located at 17505 Jefferson Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) for an attempted robbery. Clerk reported to police that he was closing the store when he was approached by an unknown man who displayed a handgun. The clerk fled the store and called police. No injuries were reported and no items were reported missing.

Lookout:

Black male, between 18 & 20 years of age, 5’09” / 115lbs, thin build, black hair / brown eyes with collar length dreadlocks. Last seen wearing a black jacket, tan pants, black shoes and a black ‘skull’ style cap.

Attempted Armed Robbery – On December 3rd at 12:07AM, police responded to the 3200 block of Antrim Cl in Dumfries (22026) for an attempted robbery. The victim, a 31 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was walking up to his residence in the above area when he was approached by two unknown men. One of the men implied he had a handgun while the other male searched the victim. After checking the victim, the two men got into a vehicle and left the area. No injuries were reported and no items were reported missing.

2 black males, both between 18 & 22 years of age—

1st male was around 5’10” / 160lbs, thin build, short black hair / brown eyes

Last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt

2nd male was around 5’10” / 160lbs, thin build, short black hair / brown eyes with long Dreadlocks. Last seen wearing black long sleeve shirt and a black ‘beanie’ style cap.

Vehicle Lookout: Gold 4 door vehicle, possibly a Dodge Stratus or Ford Taurus.

The Haymarket Town Council is set to meet tonight, Monday, February 3, 2025, at 7 p.m. to receive an update from the town manager on several ongoing projects and initiatives. The meeting will occur at the Council Chambers, located at 15000 Washington St., Suite 100, in Haymarket.

Among the key topics on the agenda, town officials will discuss:

Park Sidewalk Project: Progress continues on the asphalt work, tree planting, and signage installation along Washington Street, with lighting and benches set to be delivered soon.
Stormwater Assessment Program: Officials have identified three major problem areas for stormwater drainage improvements, with full surveying expected to be completed by April 2025.
Town Center Development: Town staff are reviewing the latest submission of the site plan, with discussions focused on prioritization and financing.
Highpointe at Haymarket: The rezoning application for a proposed workforce housing project remains on hold.

ARTfactory and Birmingham Green made headlines in Manassas this week. ARTfactory’s Rooftop Productions, now Actors Theatre, won seven awards at the 2024 DC Broadway World Awards, including Best Musical for Kinky Boots and Best Choreography for The Rocky Horror Show. ARTfactory’s Pied Piper Theatre also earned recognition, winning Best Theatre for Young Audiences for its production of The Wizard of Oz.

Meanwhile, Birmingham Green, ranked as Northern Virginia’s top nursing home by Newsweek Magazine, announced Duane Smith as its new Nursing Home Administrator, effective December 30, 2024. Smith brings extensive experience from senior living leadership roles across multiple states and holds several professional qualifications. Birmingham Green continues its 90-year mission of providing quality long-term care to Northern Virginians in need.

The Prince William Mounted Patrol Unit has become a fixture within the police department. Serving on horseback, they go where regular officers cannot. 

We spoke with Sergeant Jeramy Ramos, one of the officers on the Mounted Patrol Unit, to learn more about their role within the community. 

The Mounted Patrol Unit was established in 2006 as a part-time unit. Taking inspiration from a similar unit within Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, the mounted patrol unit, the Prince William Police Department partnered with the National Parks Service at the Manassas National Battlefield Park to load the horses. 

On Saturday, February 1, 2024, Stafford County Public Schools hosted its highly anticipated Health and Wellness Fair at Colonial Forge High School, drawing hundreds of community members to participate in a day filled with activities, demonstrations, and fun.

The fair offered attendees a variety of informative experiences, including CPR and “Stop the Bleeding” demonstrations. Participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on training, learning critical life-saving techniques. One popular demonstration involved a “Stop the Bleed” course, where attendees practiced applying pressure and gauze to a simulated wound, preparing them to respond effectively in an emergency situation.
