FOSTER "ED" JONES AGE 81
OF WOODBRIDGE , VA ON TUESDAY JULY 30,2019 AT HIS HOME.
BORN AS THE ELDEST SON TO REV. F. LEROY AND STELLA H JONES. AFTER GRADUATING FROM NEWBERN HIGH SCHOOL (NORTH CAROLINA) HE WENT ON TO JOIN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. AFTER AN HONORABLE DISCHARGE FROM THE USAF ED WENT ON TO ATTEND EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSIY WHERE HE GRADUATED WITH A MASTERS IN EDUCATION.
AFTER COLLEGE ED BECAME THE ROCKINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL BAND DIRECTOR WHERE HE MET AND MARRIED JOYCE ANN OSBOURNE. MR. JONES WENT ON TO BE THE DIRECTOR OF THE BANDS AT GAR-FIELD HIGH SCHOOL AND AFTER AT WOODBRIDGE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS NAMED THE SUPERVISOR OF MUSIC FOR PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY SCHOOLS. MR. JONES WAS RETIRED BUT CONTINUED HIS PASSION BY BEING A HOME SCHOOL BAND INSTRUTOR AND THE ORIGINAL CONDUCTOR OF PRINCE WILLIAM COMMUNITY BAND.
ED WAS A MENTOR AND ADJUDICATOR, CONDUCTOR OF BANDS THROUGHOUT VIRGINIA,WEST VIRGINIA, NORTH CAROLINA AND SOUTH CAROLINA. HE WAS A MEMBER OF ST PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHRUCH AND CHOIR. AMONG MANY AWARDS HE RECEIVED THE MOST OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN AND THE SEEFELDT ART FOUNDATION AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN RPINCE WILLIAM COUNTY.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE JOYCE O. JONES, SON STEWART (PATRICIA) JONES, DAUGHTER COURTNEY JONES, GRANDCHILDREN MATTHEW , SHERISSA REED, XAVIER REED, JORDAN REED AND MADELINE, JONES BROTHER DR. RUSSELL L JONES. ED WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY BROTHER DAVID J. JONES
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 11AM SATURDAY AUGUST 3, 2019 AT ST PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 1400 G ST WOODBRIDGE VA 22191.
