Taggart ready to run against Bailey for Potomac District seat

DUMFRIES – Republican voters chose Doug Taggart to be their nominee for Potomac District Supervisor. Taggart won the May 4 Firehouse Primary to become the Republican nominee for this November’s election to represent the Potomac District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

“In my judgment, poisonous national politics have no place in local elections in Prince William County. I intend to run a positive campaign focused on economic development, transportation challenges, schools, public safety and other issues that are important to families, individuals, and businesses in our region,” Taggart said.

Taggart faced primary opponent Davon Gray, and won Saturday’s election with 51% of the vote.

Current Potomac District Supervisor Maureen Caddigan is not seeking re-election.

Democrat Andrea Bailey, a businesswoman who works with a variety of public safety and health advocacy organizations, is also running for the seat.

“I congratulate Doug on his win in the Republican primary, and I share his desire to turn the page on past county leadership with a positive campaign that articulates an inclusive message for all residents of the Potomac District and Prince William County,” said Bailey.

Taggart is a longtime community volunteer in Prince William County where he is the Treasurer and former President of the Montclair Property Owners Association, representing nearly 15,000 residents. He is also the President & CEO of Azalea Charities, Inc. Doug is a member of the Montclair Lions Club where he is the 2017 recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship award, the highest award presented by Lions Club International for recognition of humanitarian work and community service.

Voters will head to the polls on Nov. 5, 2019 to vote for their next Potomac District Supervisor.
