Updated: Dumfries area double shooting is murder-suicide

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY  — (Press release)  Shooting Investigation — On March 20 at 10:13AM, officers responded to the 4000 block of Marjon Ct. in Dumfries for a shooting in progress. Officers arrived and secured the scene. Officers located one man and one woman, both adults, shot within the residence.

The condition of the two shot is not being disclosed at this time.

The incident is isolated to the residence and there are no public safety concerns at this time.

 

Update from Prince William police:

Murder/Suicide Investigation *CASE RECLASSIFIED – On March 20, detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau responded to investigate the death of an adult man and woman inside a residence located on Marjon Ct. in Dumfries.

The investigation revealed that the woman was staying at the residence, which is the home of a family member, when the male party came to the residence and shot the woman following an altercation. After shooting the female victim, the male party then shot himself. Both parties

were pronounced dead at the scene. Other occupants were inside the home at the time of the incident and contacted police. No other injuries were reported. Neither party involved in the shooting resided at the home on Marjon Ct.

The incident was isolated to the residence and there are no public safety concerns at this time.
