OCCOQUAN – (Press Release) On Saturday, April 20, 2019, participating Occoquan businesses flying yellow balloons will display creative dioramas using marshmallow Easter Peeps.
Dioramas can be based on current events, community happenings, politics, movies, art, science fiction, and fantasy. Visitors to Occoquan will judge each diorama, vote for their favorites, and enter the drawing to win a Peep Swag Bag.
Start your day at Town Hall to collect a contest entry form. A photo booth and visits with the Easter Bunny will also be in town. No purchase is necessary to enter the random drawing; winner will be notified. Must be 18 years or older to play. For more information about the Peep Show, contact the Occoquan Merchants’ Guild at [email protected].
Build your very own Peeps diorama and enter to win a $25 prize to spend at any Occoquan business. The community is again invited to participate in the Town of Occoquan Community Peep Contest by designing, creating, and submitting family-friendly Peep dioramas.
Completed dioramas with attached entry forms must be dropped off at Town Hall between Monday, April 15, and Thursday, April 18, 2019, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to be included in the contest. Judging will be on Friday, April 19th by a team of local judges.
Entries will be on display at Town Hall, 314 Mill Street through April 26th, with winners announced April 20, at Town Hall at noon.
Enter to win in one of four categories: Individual; Family/Team; Youth (ages 12-16); and Kids (12 and under). Registration is required to participate. Contact the Events and Community Development Director, at [email protected]. For more information or to download an entry form, visit occoquanva.gov/events-and-announcements.html or Facebook.
These events are free and open to the public. Free on-street and public lot parking is available in town during the Peep Show.
In addition, off-site parking with shuttle bus service sponsored by Patriot Scuba is available from the Route 123 Commuter lot at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Gordon Boulevard and drops off at 305 Mill Street. The shuttle service, provided by Earnie Porta’s Occoquan Tourism Company, will collect patrons from the lot on the half hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. The shuttle is free, but donations to the non-profit Patriots for Disabled Divers are appreciated.
