Rev. A.E. Lewis, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was born February 14, 1927 in Wayne County to the late Albert E. and Minnie Lucille Lewis. Rev. A.E. Lewis was an ordained Church of God Minister for over 60 years.
His pastorates included South Rocky Mount Church of God (now Ridgecrest Worship Center). He was a church planter and started his first church in Bryson City, NC in 1957 and his last Church in Dale City, VA in 1982. He served as Evangelism and Home Missions Director in the state offices of Virginia, Mississippi and West Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four siblings, Gladys Patterson, Sidney, David E., and Hubert G. Lewis.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lewis; son, Ed Lewis (DoVina); daughter, Sue Smith (Ron); four siblings, Ralph Lewis of Pinetops, Jean Smith of Poquoson, VA,, Hazel Call (Jimmy) of Newport News, VA and Audrey Jones of Tarboro, NC; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 10:00-11:00 AM with funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Ridgecrest Worship Center with Pastor Kelly Shope officiating, assisted by Pastor Charles Thompson and Pastor Gerald Parker. Burial will be at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
