Thomas Patrick Deakins, 63, passed away Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018. Thomas “Tommy” Deakins was born October 22nd, 1954 in Washington D.C. to Ellsworth Irving Deakins and Frances Rita Deakins (née Byrnes).
Tommy was a master carpenter and renowned project manager who spent over forty years in the construction industry overseeing the completion of countless homes throughout Northern Virginia.
In his spare time, Tommy was an avid relic hunter unearthing thousands of Civil War-era artifacts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with the help of his son, Thomas. His finds were featured in multiple publications, including American Digger.
Tommy was a devoted, generous father. A devout Catholic, he leaves behind two sons, Thomas and Matthew; a daughter-in-law, Sharon; and a grandson, Justin. He is survived by two brothers, Raymond and James; and two sisters, Sisi and Peggy.
A viewing will be held Sunday, May 6th from 2-5 p.m. at the Storke Funeral Home Nash & Slaw Chapel in King George, VA. Family and friends are invited to share in the remembrance of Tommy’s life. A service will be held the following day at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in King George, Virginia.
