Mt. Vernon, Va. – Streams known for pouring over their banks is one of the issues Fairfax officials plan to address a new watershed plan.
A public meeting about the new plan for the Belle Haven, Four Mile Run and Douge Creek watershed areas will be held at Thursday at Mt. Vernon High School.
In addition to putting an end to the flooding, the draft plan will cover restoring three miles of streams, restoring the forests along the stream beds and curbing pollutants in the waters, according to a press release from the Fairfax Stormwater Planning Division.
Residents will also have the chance to comment on the draft plan during the meeting, which will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.
