In July, police in Woodbridge were called to investigate several larcenies from automobiles from the Virginia Railway Express station on Express Drive.
Tires and rims were stolen from cars in multiple cases.
VRE / Commuter Lot Vehicle Larcenies
Since early July 2011, there have been several reports of tire and rim larcenies from vehicles parked in commuter lots and garages at area VRE and commuter locations. These larcenies have been reported to have occurred during the day hours, 6:30AM to 4:00PM, while vehicle owners have been at work. Police have increased their patrols and continue to monitor the area commuter and VRE lots within Prince William County. On July 28th at 3:29PM, police responded to the commuter lot located at Jefferson Davis Hwy and Dumfries Rd in Dumfries (22026) for a vehicle larceny. Caller reported to police that two vehicles were parked in the lot that appeared to of had the tires and rims removed. The first vehicle was located which had all four tires stolen, as well as, the stereo. Entry appeared to have been made into the vehicle through a passenger window which had been smashed out. The second vehicle was located which only had one tire missing. A second tire had been removed but was not stolen. No entry was made into this vehicle. On July 15th at 4:35PM, police responded to the VRE parking garage located at 1040 Express Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for a vehicle larceny. Police located a vehicle which had all four tires and rims missing. Vehicle owner reported to police that the vehicle had been parked in the lot between 5:30AM and 4:00PM. No entry was gained into the vehicle. Total value of the stolen property was estimated around $3,000Vehicle Larceny
On July 15th at 4:35PM, police responded to the VRE parking garage located at 1040 Express Dr in Woodbridge (22191) for a vehicle larceny. Caller reported to police that two vehicles were located within the parking garage that appeared to of had the tires and rims removed. Both vehicles were parked on different levels within the garage. The first vehicle, parked initially at 5:30AM, was located which had all four tires and rims stolen. The second vehicle, parked sometime around 7:30AM, was located which, also, had all four tires removed. No entry was gained into either vehicle. Total value of stolen property was estimated around $10,000.

Congressman Suhas Subramanyam (D) has been appointed to the House Committees on Science, Space, and Technology and Oversight and Accountability. Leveraging his experience as a former Obama administration technology advisor and entrepreneur, Subramanyam aims to promote innovation, support economic development, and champion research and STEM education in Virginia’s 10th District, which includes western Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Subramanyam will advocate for federal workers in the Oversight Committee, representing the 34,000 in his district. He plans to hold the former Trump administration accountable, ensure efficient government services, and resist efforts to politicize federal service or relocate jobs out of Virginia. A former Virginia General Assembly legislator, Subramanyam is known for bipartisan achievements and community service, including his work as a firefighter and EMT. He resides in Ashburn, Virginia, with his family.
Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in the 8300 block of Sunset Drive near Manassas on January 9.
Marlon Osvaldo Bautista, 20, of Manassas Park, was apprehended on January 13 and charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Bautista is being held without bond, and a court date is pending.
The victim has been identified as Calvin Tyshaun Odell Batsone, 22, of Woodbridge. Police say Batsone was shot during an altercation involving two groups that escalated into gunfire. The groups fled the scene in separate vehicles, and Batsone was later transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. No additional injuries or property damage were reported.
Daryl Price, a senior at Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School in Manassas, now has his artwork on display in an international exhibition.
Price submitted his Advanced Placement (AP) art studio portfolio to the College Board in 2024, and was one of 50 students selected out of 80,000 to have their artwork displayed on the international stage.
“I feel so incredibly honored to have my work be chosen to be part of such an awesome exhibition,” Price said.
Price was in the two-dimensional studio art class. According to a Prince William County Schools (PWCS) press release, Price created scenes paying homage to punk music.
“In my years in PWCS, I think all of my art teachers have been really supportive of just creation and my imagination in general,” Price said. “Colgan itself … really helped me find and establish my creative voice.”
