Frederick Thomas Osborne, Sr., age 86, passed away on September 26, 2017, at his home in Bristow, Virginia, surrounded by family.
Mr. Osborne was born on November 23, 1930, in Conneaut, Ohio to the late Harry Karl and Veda Marie (Porter) Osborne. He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1971, retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his military career he served in Germany, Italy, and Korea. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal. After retiring from the Army, he worked for Dominion Power from 1971 and retired in 1990.
Predeceased by his parents; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia of Bristow, VA; three children: Frederick T. Osborne, Jr. of Dale City, VA, Rhonda and husband Harvey Lawrence III of Bristow, VA and James Osborne and partner Jeff Minskey of Houston, TX; four grandchildren: Harvey Lawrence IV of Stafford, VA, Joel Lawrence and wife Ashley of Fredericksburg, VA, Samantha Ortiz and husband Zach of Fredericksburg, VA, and Crystal Nistor and husband David of Fredericksburg, VA; seven great grandchildren: Gage Lawrence, Ivy and Mia Lawrence; Reagan and Adrianna Ortiz; Olivia, Hanna, and Melanie Nistor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 8:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA with military honors.

Fredericksburg celebrated the grand opening of its new Visitor Center on January 10, 2025, with an open-house event that drew hundreds today at the newly renamed City Center government building, formerly known as the Executive Plaza. Community members gathered at 601 Caroline Street to explore the revamped space, enjoy light refreshments, and learn about the Visitor Center’s offerings.
The new facility, described as brighter and more accessible, provides an inviting hub for showcasing Fredericksburg’s artists and businesses. “The center is fabulous,” said Mayor Kerry Devine. “It has space for showcasing our artists and businesses, and we’re just so excited to welcome people to this new center.”
Rita McClenney, President and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation, emphasized the importance of the Visitor Center as a resource for wayfinding and discovering unique experiences in Fredericksburg. “A lot of people research before they travel, but there’s nothing like being on the ground and finding out about a place through the people who know it best,” said McClenney.
