James Lester Buckler

James Lester Buckler, age 79, of Gainesville, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Novant Health Prince William Medical Center.

Jim was born on October 1, 1937 in Washington, DC the son of the late Andrew Thomas & Carrie Jane (Tippett) Buckler, Sr. Jim retired as a Director of Information Systems Division for the Navy Federal Credit Union. Jim served in the US Air National Guard. He enjoyed Civil War History, Genealogy and travel. He had the ability to make everyone laugh and feel comfortable around him.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Lorene (Jennings) Buckler, siblings, Andrew Thomas Buckler, Jr and Marietta Ann Buckler Silverman.

Survivors include his wife, Frances H. Buckler; two daughters, Brenda Sue Davis and husband Ted of Tampa, Florida, Rebecca Lynn Spackman and husband David of Melbourne, Australia; two step-sons, Gene Hickman and wife Eileen of Charlotte, NC and Robert Hickman of Los Angeles, CA; three brothers, William Marcellus Buckler of Lawton, OK, Lewis Richard Buckler and wife Shirley of King George, VA, Ray Dennis Buckler and wife Ann Marie of Pomfret, MD; four grandchildren, Kristin Lorene Dine, James William Davis, Cole David Spackman, Marlo Simone Spackman; six step-grandchildren, Lindsay Hickman, Brad Hickman, Casey Hickman, Joshua Hickman, Zachary Hickman, Benjamin Hickman.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:30pm Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA where a Celebration of Life will take place at 4:30pm. Private burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of the following charities: Alzheimer’s Association or American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
