Theresa Joan Hopkins Gibson was born in St. Michaels, MD on December 21, 1942. She is the fourth child conceived by the late Arthur E. and Carrie Virginia Hopkins.
Baptized at an early age, Joan started her Spiritual journey at Union United Methodist Church (St. Michaels, MD); later she became a member of Gunston Chapel (Fort Belvoir, VA).
Educated in Talbot County public schools, Joan, as she was affectionately known excelled as an accountant for Honeywell Protection Services for 20 years before retiring in 1998.

Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who had a passion for life that showed through the many lives she touched. One of the brightest moments of Joan’s life happened when her grandson (Paul) was born. She enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with her closest friends; Howard and Debbie Blake and now deceased Randy and Doretha Elliott. After retirement, her favorite hobbies included shopping at thrift stores, yard sales or anything that dealt with shopping. Joan was a feisty lady who had a heart of gold and a laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. Her strength, determination, and loving and caring spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her.
