Elizabeth Fox Bolton

Elizabeth Fox Bolton, 94, of Manassas Virginia, formerly of Clinton, passed away on August 8, 2017 at Novant Health UVA Haymarket Medical Center in Haymarket, Virginia. She was born to Thomas Wilson Fox and Elizabeth Strong Fox in Jeff, Kentucky. The Fox family moved from Kentucky to Tennessee in 1931 where they lived on the family farm on Edgemoor Road where the Centennial Golf Course is currently located. The family moved from the farm to Clinton in support of the war effort. She graduated from Clinton High School where she was voted “Most Popular Girl”. She was an avid bowler and won numerous bowling titles and championships. She was a two-time Virginia State Doubles Champion and participated in over 45 WIBC Tournaments held throughout the United States. Elizabeth was a member of the Manassas Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, 2nd Lt. Sherrill R. Williams, Walter R. Brummett and Earl A. Bolton; her son Walter R. “Bobby” Brummett, Jr.; her sisters Dorothy Margrave, Hazel Brown, Bessie Smith and Bertha Jenkins; her brothers William and Henry Fox.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Williams Hall of Jonesboro, GA; her son Johnny Bolton and wife Nancy of Nokesville, VA; her sister Minnie Manley of Selma AL; her brother Fred Fox and wife Onah of Clinton; her grandchildren Edward Hall and wife Chevelle of Newnan, GA; Robin Shockley of Los Angeles, CA; Elizabeth Sahley and husband Chad of Los Angeles, CA; Alicia Wagner and husband Joe of Winter Haven, FL; Michelle Hudson and husband Jesse of Manassas, VA; Jonathan Bolton and wife Nicole of Catlett, VA; Jacob and Catie Bolton of Manassas, VA; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodhaven Funeral Home, Claxton. The graveside service will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 18, 2017 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Elizabeth’s caregiver, Jean Pitt, for her excellent and loving care. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to The Pat Summitt Foundation, 520 W. Summit Hills Drive, S.W., #1101, Knoxville, TN 37902.

Colgan Sr. High School and the Governor’s School @ Innovation Park, daughter of Prince William School Board Chairman Babur Lateef,  has been named one of 40 finalists in the prestigious 2025 Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS). Selected from nearly 2,500 applicants nationwide, Rania is recognized for her groundbreaking research on the effects of artificial light and circadian disruption on biobehavioral systems in Drosophila melanogaster. Her work highlights the impact of sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances on physical and mental health.

Rania credited her success to the supportive academic community of Prince William County Public Schools, her teachers Stephanie Brown and Dr. Alexis Patanarut, and her unique opportunities at GS@IP. As a finalist, she has already won $27,000 and will compete for additional awards totaling over $1.8 million during a week-long event in Washington, D.C., in March 2025. Rania’s journey emphasizes the power of passion and commitment in achieving meaningful scientific discoveries.

On January 24, 2025, at 12:25 a.m., Sergeant E.E. West responded to a single-vehicle crash at the McDonald’s on Wonder Road. An intoxicated driver, identified as Juan Gomez Alvarez, 38, of North Carolina, entered the drive-thru at a high rate of speed, struck a sign, and came to rest at an awkward angle, blocking the lane.

Gomez Alvarez displayed red, glassy eyes and had a strong odor of alcohol. The investigation revealed that he had been convicted of DUI in New York just the previous day, making this his second offense in five years. He was charged with DUI second offense, refusal, and destruction of property and was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
