Stafford County Public Schools Hosts Health and Wellness Fair at Colonial Forge High School

Hands-on CPR demonstration

On Saturday, February 1, 2024, Stafford County Public Schools hosted its highly anticipated Health and Wellness Fair at Colonial Forge High School, drawing hundreds of community members to participate in a day filled with activities, demonstrations, and fun.

The fair offered attendees a variety of informative experiences, including CPR and “Stop the Bleeding” demonstrations. Participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on training, learning critical life-saving techniques. One popular demonstration involved a “Stop the Bleed” course, where attendees practiced applying pressure and gauze to a simulated wound, preparing them to respond effectively in an emergency situation.

In addition, Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation offered hands-on CPR training, emphasizing the simplicity and effectiveness of the method. The foundation highlighted the American Heart Association’s updated guidelines, which now recommend hands-on CPR without the need for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for anyone over 50 pounds, as there is typically enough oxygenated blood in the body to sustain life until help arrives.

The event also featured various local vendors, providing valuable health resources, fitness tips, and wellness products. Attendees could visit the booths to learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and accessing health services within the community.

For those looking for some exercise and fun, the “Polar Pals” fun run was a highlight of the day. This spirited event took place around the school building, encouraging both children and adults to participate in a lighthearted and community-oriented race. It was a perfect way to kick off the weekend while promoting physical activity in a family-friendly atmosphere.
