We now anticipate total precipitation for this event in the City of Fredericksburg to be between 10 and 12 inches. Additionally, winter weather is beginning to impact the area in Southwest Virginia. Our timeline remains unchanged, with the weather expected to start moving into the area around 7 pm to 8 pm.

We are asking all members of our community to avoid travel if possible. Please remain alert, practice cold weather safety, and check on your neighbors.
The Public Works staff has diligently worked to apply brine-pavement treatments throughout the City. Almost 3,000 gallons of solution was dispersed. Bridges, overpasses, and some of our roads were treated at least twice. Crews have loaded all available equipment with salt/sand and will begin patrolling their assigned routes at 8:00 pm.
Please allow snow removal crews, debris removal crews, and public safety personnel to respond without unnecessary obstacles. Plowing will begin as soon as streets have accumulated snow.
