Aquia Harbour Host Lions collect 3,905 pounds of electronic junk


Press Release:The Aquia Harbour Host Lions were out supporting the Household Hazardous Waste Day collecting all the electrical and electronic waste. 3,905lbs of electronic in addition to hundreds of cell phones, laptops, and ink cartridges, were able to be recycled by the Lions.”

“The students from Brooke Point High School Vstar were on hand to work with the Lions, disabling items while identifying multiple desktop computers and monitors that they will be able to wipe and refurbish to provide to people in our area who cannot afford a home computer.”

“Mike Shepherd from the Aquia Harbour Host Lions took over managing the Electrical and Electronic waste recycling at the [Stafford Regional Landfill] and the Belman Road Recycling Center [Fredericksburg] in June. Items can still be dropped off at both locations during normal Landfill and Recycling center hours. There are sheds for drop-off at both locations. 100% of the monies raised from the program go back out to support our community.”

McClung-Logan Equipment Company is hosting its 40th Annual Oyster Roast, a signature customer appreciation event celebrating tradition, community, and generosity.

This year’s milestone celebration will take place on Thursday, March 6th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairgrounds.

The first Oyster Roast began as a fundraiser in 1985, led by White Oak Equipment founder Frank McCarty, to raise donations for an employee battling cancer. This turned into a time-honored tradition for individuals facing hardship.
