Kim Hosen, 70, founder of the Prince William Conservation Alliance, was memorialized on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
About 200 people attended a ceremony in her honor at Merrimac Farm in Nokesivlle to honor her work in the community, share memories, and encourage others to keep up her work to conserve one of Virginia's most environmentally diverse locations. Many wore pink in Hosen's honor.
Hosen pushed to transform the 300-acre farm into a wildlife area with help from Quantico Marine Corps Base and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. The secluded area featuring trails, a canoe launch, and a stone house serving as an education center sits off Fleetwood Road. It's a barrier to Quantico Marine Corps Base.
