Waffles to wallpaper: 25 new businesses get green light

A total of 25 small business owners received a certificate of occupancy/written authorization to ‘Open for Business’ from the Prince William County Department of Development Services Small Business Project Management (SBPM) Program in January 2023.

In January, five new food venues opened: Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken at 14111 Richmond Highway in Woodbridge; Southern Style Chicken and Waffle at 8124 Sudley Road, Manassas; Lapaz African Cuisine at 8041 Centreville Road, near Manassas; Shahzad Essa Food Inc at 13871 Smoketown Road in Woodbridge; and Cold Stone Creamery, 16434 Navigation Drive in Woodbridge.

In Gainesville, Bash Boxing fitness studio opened at 7637 Linton Hall Road, located within Virginia Gateway shopping mall.

Other neighboring small business owners ‘open for business’ are Postal Plus, at 7551 Somerset Crossing Drive, JES Construction at 7940 Gainsford Court, Legacy Wealth Management at suite 100, 10432 Balls Ford Road, Flagship Car Wash at 11790 Sudley Manor Drive, Shafaq LLC at 5501 Merchants View Square and 24-7 Cleaners at 7913 Heritage Village Plaza. Smoke and Vape, LLC has opened at 13625 Dumfries Road, near Manassas.

New in Haymarket is Broad Run Accounting Service Inc in suite 105 and Anita Sadlack State Farm Insurance in suite 201 at 14540 John Marshall Highway.

In Dale City, Casa Pediatrics celebrated its expansion and opened its new adjoining space in suite 301, 14130 Noblewood Plaza, along with Kenko LLC.

In Lake Ridge, HAA Insurance Agency LLC has opened at suite 201, 1346 Old Bridge Road. Nearby are Captiveaire Systems Inc. and Georgia Rose Hair Care & Modeling, which opened in suite 101, 1376 Old Bridge Rd. Bare LLC is now open at suite 201, 1384 Old Bridge Road.

Coast to Coast Interiors LLC moved into suite 108, 14000 Crown Court at Prince William Commons. Boxing It Up LLC is at 2849 PS Business Center, and Romelia RGC Home Services has moved to 13412 Richmond Highway in Woodbridge.

The first odd year election in Virginia was in 1851, after a new state Constitution was approved and members of the House were elected to a two-year term. Before that, members of the House had one-year terms, and voters selected members every single year.

Now, Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell says modern day voters are sick and tired of voting every year.

A Manassas man was sentenced today to 18 years in prison for providing drugs and alcohol to a child in exchange for sex acts and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) depicting the same victim as well as other children.

According to court documents, Olajide Benjamin Ayilaran, 24, met a 14-year-old girl during the summer of 2023 and began communicating with the victim via iMessage. In the messages, Ayilaran offered to provide the victim drugs, alcohol, and nicotine products in exchange for sex acts. Between at least Nov. 21, 2023, and Feb. 29, 2024, Ayilaran met the victim nine times, usually in the morning before the victim went to school, to exchange the products for sexual acts. Ayilaran would wait for the victim in his car in a nearby park. When the victim arrived, he gave her the drugs and alcohol and then had the victim perform sex acts on him in the car.
