Stafford hikes sheriff deputy starting pay, now competitive to Northern Virginia

Stafford County Sheriff's deputies will be some of Northern Virginia's highest-paid law enforcement officers.

Starting January 1, deputies with the rank of 1st Sergeant and below will receive a 15% pay raise. The $51,300 annual starting pay for new deputies will increase to $59,000. The increase puts Stafford deputies on par with Virginia State Police troopers in Northern Virginia, who earn a $66,000 starting salary.
