Spanberger calls Vega’s comments ‘shameful;’ Audio recorded by campaign plant, GOP sources say

Yesli Vega makes a thank-you speech after clinching the GOP nomination in Virginia's 7th Congressional GOP Primary on June 21, 2022.

Democrat Abagail Spanberger calls out her newly elected Republican challenger Yesli Vega for comments made on the campaign trail about abortion.

Axios Richmond posted an audio recording of someone asking Vega if she thought it was more challenging to get pregnant in cases of rape. In the audio, Vega can be heard stating, "Well, maybe because there's so much going on in the body. I don't know. I haven't, you know, seen any studies. But if I'm processing what you're saying, it wouldn't surprise me. Because it's not something that's happening organically. You're forcing it. The individual, the male, is doing it as quickly -- it's not like, you know -- and so I can see why there is truth to that. It's unfortunate."
