In his third term, Bryan Dolieslager, once Chairman of the Board and the manager of Evergreen Country Club near Haymarket, resigned in protest on Wednesday, April 27. Dolieslager said the new four percent meals tax enacted by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors on the day before is harmful to the hospitality industry in the county.
The new meals tax will be tacked to the regular six percent sales tax restaurants already charge. The new tax is expected to generate $25 million more for county coffers for a local government that passed a historic spending plan for the coming year, with a $35 million existing surplus.
