Compared to an extension of Metro to Woodbridge, a new study shows that Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) would be a more cost-effective transportation solution for eastern Prince William County.

A proposed BRT line would run south of the Occoquan River along Route 1. A map contained in the  Springfield to Quantico Enhanced Public Transportation Feasibility Study shows the bus serving the North Woodbridge at the Woodbridge Virginia Railway Express Station, over to the areas near Potomac Mills mall and Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center at Stonebridge (Wegmans/Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center), continuing south on Route 1 to Triangle.

The study shows that at more than 1,000 boardings a day, the study projects that most riders would catch buses at Potomac Mills mall and the Woodbridge VRE station. Projected ridership drops significantly (with stops at Quantico Marine Corps Base and Dumfries cast to see fewer than 250 boardings per day).
