Election officials in Prince William County say human error led to discrepancies in vote totals for at least two House of Delegates races.
Republican candidate for District 51 Tim Cox issued a statement late Wednesday night describing glaring differences in the vote totals in his race from the time he went to bed late Tuesday night to the time he woke up Wednesday morning.
I was informed earlier today that election officials had discovered a problem with the counting and reporting of early and absentee votes. By researching the Department of Elections website, I corroborated that my opponent's results were initially inflated by 3,225 votes, and my initial tally appears to have been off by 1,341. The original write-in number also changed from 26 to 21.
