New ramp to toll lanes at Opitz Blvd. to be complete by 2024, cost $70 million

Last night, plans were unveiled for a new $70 million ramp to the E-ZPass Express Lanes in Woodbridge.

The new ramp will be built at Opitz Boulevard and allow drivers on the express toll lanes to exit the lanes onto Opitz Boulevard. In the mornings, The ramp will provide easy access to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Potomac Mills mall, and a soon-to-be-built 7,000-space parking garage near Wegmans grocery store, Virginia Department of Transportation Design Manager Rimpal Shah said.

When the express lanes are reversed to southbound traffic in the evenings, the ramp will allow drivers bound for Stafford and Fredericksburg to use the toll lanes.
