Prince William County Department of Development Services is celebrating its Small Business Project Management Program, a Board of County Supervisors initiative to support small business owners, startups, and entrepreneurs, which has surpassed 1,000 customers, marking an important milestone for the program.
From healthcare services and professional collaborations to restaurants and specialty stores, these entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses have continued to innovate and to help their customers adapt to the next normal.
Ann Wheeler, Chair-At-Large, Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said: “This milestone is a testament to each and every small business owner that has chosen Prince William County to help them create a thriving business, even in times that reflect unprecedented uncertainty and change. The Small Business Project Management Program initiative was founded on the belief that if government aligns success with that of the customers we serve, like these small business owners, we all grow better, faster, stronger, together.”
“Thanks to the dedicated team of highly trained professional experts, this milestone is proof of the continuing success of the program. This program is an extension of the Department of Development Services highly successful Commercial Project Management Program which creates value for our customers by helping them navigate all the regulations, nodes of work, and sourcing it takes to stand up and open a business,” said Wade A. Hugh, Director of Department of Development Services, Prince William County.
Opening a new business is a significant investment of financial and personal resources. Prince William County wants to assist all customers through the regulatory process to ensure new and existing businesses have a positive impact on their neighborhood and business community, is safe to occupy, and open as quickly as possible.

Prince William County Animal Services Center is working to reunite lost pets with their owners. Between February 7 and February 10, 2025, several stray animals were turned into the shelter. In an effort to assist pet owners, the center posts photos of strays on its social media pages a few times each week.
However, the center does not respond to questions about specific animals via Facebook. If you believe your pet may be at the shelter, you should contact them directly by calling (703) 792-6465, emailing [email protected], or visiting the center in person.
As another significant snowstorm blankets Stafford County with over six inches of snow on February 11, 2025, local officials grapple with the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) depleted snow removal budget, which was exhausted by a previous winter storm on January 5–6.
During a Stafford County Board of Supervisors meeting on February 6, 2025, VDOT Residency Administrator Kyle Bates warned about the agency’s financial limitations.
“That money is gone. It’s gone. Our snow budget was that one storm,” Bates said.
The Haymarket Police Department has launched a new initiative to collect and analyze traffic volume data to enhance road safety and improve traffic management in town.
During the Haymarket Town Council meeting on February 3, 2025, Police Chief Allen Sibert shared findings from a speed sign installed on the eastbound lane of Washington Street, the town’s main thoroughfare. The data collected over the past six months revealed that the highest volume of traffic occurs during lunchtime hours, surpassing even the traditional rush hour periods.
“This data is invaluable as it allows us to better understand traffic patterns and adjust enforcement efforts accordingly,” said Chief Sibert. “We want to ensure our roads remain safe and that we are using our resources where they are most needed.”
On Monday, February 10, 2025, the 149th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden featured a special appearance by Chesty XVI, the United States Marine Corps’ bulldog mascot. This presentation was part of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s (MCHF) celebration of the Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary. Chesty XVI was accompanied by his handlers and MCHF President and CEO, retired Maj. Gen. James Lukeman, from the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico.Â
