City leaders in Manassas continue to debate whether or not the mayor should have the ability to vote on all matters before the City Council.
Historically, the mayor has served as a tie-breaker when Councilmembers are deadlocked on an issue. The city's Legislative Committee, one of the Council's newest, is discussing the matter.
Councilwoman Pamela Sebesky, the appointed Vice Mayor, is pushing for the mayor to vote on all matters. So does Councilman David Farajollahi, who would like to take things a step further by putting the question on a ballot and letting the voters decide in a referendum.
