New restrictions will be placed on speakers aiming to address the Prince William County School Board.
Speakers will now get two minutes instead of three to address School Board members for up to one hour.
- A total of 15 speakers who put their names on a list before the start of the meeting will be allowed to address the School Board on matters listed in the agenda, the first half-hour.
- Then, another 15 people may address the Board on any other topics related to the school system's operations, according to the division's new policy outlined below.
- All speakers must now sign up online before meetings to speak.
Currently, the School Board allows the public to speak for 30 minutes, and then, if there's still someone who wants to speak at the end of the meetings (many of which last past midnight), they're allowed to speak at the end of the meetings.
