Woman, 32, killed in Cardinal Drive crash

Police are investigating another fatal crash on Cardinal Drive in Woodbridge.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On May 23 at 7:48 a.m., investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Cardinal Dr. and Swan Way in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a two-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2006 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Cardinal Dr. near Swan Way at a high rate of speed when the vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota Camry from behind that was traveling in the same direction.

After colliding with the Camry, the Altima left the roadway before striking a guardrail and a chain-link fence. The Altima eventually came to a rest on its roof in a nearby retention pond. A male and female occupant inside the Altima were ejected, while a third male occupant crawled out of the vehicle and initially fled the scene before being located by officers near Eastlawn Ave.

The female occupant in the Altima died at the scene as a result of her injuries sustained in the crash. One of the male occupants in the Altima was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries while the third male occupant was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

At this time, investigators are continuing their investigation into the crash to determine who was driving the Altima at the time of the collision. The driver, and sole occupant of the Camry, was not injured.

The investigation continues.

Identified:

  • The deceased occupant of the 2006 Nissan Altima was identified as Thrya Sefah ADDAI, 32, of Woodbridge

  • The second occupant of the 2006 Nissan Altima was identified as a 26-year-old man of Woodbridge

  • The third occupant of the 2006 Nissan Altima was identified as a 29-year-old man of Woodbridge

  • The driver of the 2005 Toyota Camry was identified as a 32-year-old man of Woodbridge

This latest crash follows another fatal crash that occurred last week, which took the life of Paul Camacho, 21, of Woodbridge. Speed appeared to have been a factor in that crash.

Last year, Deborah Talbot was killed while walking her dog along Cardinal Drive. The suspect in her death, Cierra Dickerson, is set to go on trial July 1.

Dickerson was racing her car when Talbot was killed, police said.

(AP) — Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Sunday and predicted six more weeks of wintry weather, his top-hatted handlers announced to a raucus, record-sized crowd at Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania.

Phil was welcomed with chants of “Phil, Phil, Phil,” and pulled from a hatch on his tree stump shortly after sunrise before a member of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club read from a scroll in which he boasted: “Only I know — you can’t trust A.I.”

At approximately 2:45 P.M. on Saturday, February 1st, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Aquia Creek Road, near Aquia Creek. Callers reported a neighboring residence on fire, and first arriving units marked the scene less than 10 minutes later and confirmed fire and smoke coming from the rear and roof of a single-family residence.

Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, crews had to utilize rural water operations to shuttle water to the scene. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and bring it under control in approximately an hour, despite the roof collapsing.

The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The fire is under routine investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office. SCFR units were assisted on scene by Quantico Fire and Emergency Services.
