Janice Elaine Miller Byrum, 83, went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 29, 2021. She was born on June 11, 1937, to the late Ira and Mary Miller. Janice married “the love of her life” the late Henry “Red” Byrum on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
In her early years, Janice enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family. She shared her love of music with others through teaching piano lessons, directing the choir, and as an organist for the church. After many years of working, Janice spent her later years sitting in her favorite chair watching her ball games on TV, looking out the window, interacting with her great and great-great grandchildren, and sharing her favorite potato chips with them.
Janice is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Haydon (Jeff) and Donna Wilson (Sonny), and her daughter-in-law Janet Hildreth. She had 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Joseph “Ray” Hildreth and Steven Hildreth, and two grandsons, Sean Hildreth and Victor Wilson.
Janice was well loved by her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dare County North Carolina Special Olympics.
