Mary Anne Money

Mary Anne (Fulton/Osterritter) Money passed away at the age of 87 on December 14, 2020.

Mary Anne was born on May 17, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was so proud of her Pittsburgh roots and could find other Pittsburghers in any store, restaurant or cruise ship! Following graduation from high school, she attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College. After marriage, she settled in Woodbridge, VA.

She is survived by her children, Ross Osterritter (Mary Ellen) of Goose Creek SC, Donna Anne Stofko (Alan) of Montclair VA, and Pamela Cook (Tom) of Charlotte, NC. She was a loving grandmother to Brian and Allison Stofko, Patricia Pendarvis, Jonathan Osterritter and McKenna and Carson Cook. Her great grandchildren called her Gigi and were her heart; Rebecca Pendarvis, Abigail Pendarvis, Joshua Osterritter and Isaiah McDonald

Mary Anne was a working mother long before that was common. She told stories of working as a prison guard when she was first married but spent the majority of her career working at Sears and then later at Allstate as an insurance agent. She retired when she was 70 years old to travel more, tend to her beautiful garden and participate in fun adventures with the Bluebirds and her Red Hat friends.

Her family remembers Mary Anne for her determination and persistence in organizing our annual family reunion. She wore her label as cruise dictator with pride! You could try to resist – say you were too busy, say you couldn’t afford it, that the week did not work…but mom would eventually wear you down. She believed that our time together as a family was worth the effort. Playing cards, doing crafts, family dinners, chores, fights, hugs and the love…she was right about all of it.

A private ceremony celebrating Mary Anne’s life will be held later this year – perhaps at our next family reunion. That would make her so happy!
