Agenda for the week of December 6

We’ve got our eyes on multiple meetings next week.

Monday, December 7

The Stafford County Redistricting Committee will meet to discuss public outreach efforts for the upcoming political redistricting process, which occurs in the state every 10 years.

  • Last month, voters overwhelmingly approved a bi-partisan committee to go to Richmond to reform the state’s redistricting process, which has long been accused of being Gerrymandered.
  • The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The county has not yet published the location of the meeting.

Tuesday, December 8

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors and School Board will hold a joint meeting at the Buckhall Fire Station, at 7190 Yates Ford Road, just outside Manassas.

  • The two boards will discuss what appears to be a projected $3.5 million deficit in county tax revenues next year.
  • Public schools are expected to receive about $2 million less next year, while the county government will be in the hole about $1.5 million due to the projected shortfall.
  • The two boards will begin their meetings at 7 p.m.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will hold a work session at 2 p.m., before the joint meeting, to discuss social services.

The Stafford County School Board will meet at 7 p.m. at the County Government Center, at 1300 Courthouse Road.

  • A meeting agenda has yet to be published.

The Manassas City School Board will once again stream its meeting live on YouTube.

  • The Board will discuss revisions to its $81 million capital improvement plan and strategic goals outline for Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin Newman.
  • The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, December 9

The Prince William County Planning Commission will meet to discuss an amendment to the county’s comprehensive plan to develop more than 500 acres of land between Colgan Senior High School and the county landfill.

  • The 7 p.m. meeting will occur at the county government center, at 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge.
