Central Library in Manassas is once again open to the public after closing earlier this year for renovations.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the reopening earlier this week. Prince William County Public Libraries posted a press release about the event.
Prince William Public Libraries continues to enhance its buildings to create functional, inviting spaces for the greater Prince William community. Walls have been broken down and the interior has been completely redesigned to offer more open space for programming and general enjoyment.
“Today marks a new, exciting chapter for Central Library and Prince William Public Libraries,” remarked Chair Ann B. Wheeler, Prince William Board of County Supervisors. “It represents a continuation in fulfilling Prince William Public Libraries’ mission of bringing people, information, and ideas together to enrich lives and build community in a welcoming, inclusive environment.”
In addition to physical changes to Central Library, the renovation is allowing for enhanced services and programming. After more than 25 years, RELIC, focusing on local history and genealogy, has been moved back to Central Library from Bull Run Library. Central will also house PWPL’s first Makerspace Lab, Studio 8601.
The library is located at 8601 Mathis Avenue in Manassas. It boasts 29 computers for public access and free wifi.
Further south, the Central Rappahannock Regional Library is expanding some of its services to the community. It outlined those in a press release.
