Police have now dertimed that two vehicles are suspected in a hit and run death of a 62-year-old man.
Investigators with the Prince William police crash investigation unit have determined that the victim hit and killed in the area of Sudley Road and Balls Ford Road near Manassas on Wednesday, May 6 at 5 a.m., was struck by two vehicles, according to a Prince William County Police Department press release.
Potomac Local News reported the incident shortly after it happened.
When reviewing surveillance footage, the pedestrian crossing Sudley Road was initially hit by a recent model of a silver Toyota Corolla before the striking car continued, according to police. The car did not turn onto Balls Ford Road as initially said in a previous Prince William Police Department press release.
“The vehicle will have damage to the lower passenger side bumper and will be missing the passenger side mirror,” according to First Sergeant Jonathan Perok.
Moments after the victim was hit, a second car ran over the victim as he laid in the roadway. The second car then pulled into a nearby gas station, where the driver was seen pumping gas before driving away from the scene a short time later, according to police.
The suspect was driving a mid-2000 model dark-colored Nissan Xterra. The vehicle may not have noticeable damage from the collision, according to police.
The victim was identified as Alberto Anthony Marino, 62, of Bristow. He died not long after being sent to a local hospital due to his injuries, according to police.
