Pedestrian dies in crash, driver flees scene

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car near Manassas.

Police were called to the area of Balls Ford and Sudley roads at 5 a.m. to investigate a hit and run crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a silver-colored sedan was turning west onto Balls Ford Road from Sudley Road and struck a pedestrian who was crossing Sudley Road.

The driver fled the scene and headed west on Balls Ford Road, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Prince William County Police Department tipline at 703-792-7000 or submit a web tip to pwcgov.org/policetip.

Police said they’re searching for a silver-colored sedan, possibly a Toyota Corolla, with damage to the passenger side mirror and additional damage on the passenger side.

The victim is identified as Alberto Anthony Marino, 62, of Bristow.

This is the second pedestrian death in Prince William County this week. On Monday, a woman attempting to cross Cardinal Drive near Woodbridge was struck and killed.
