Buildings in Stafford County remain closed to the public.
In accordance with Governor Ralph Northam’s Executive Order #55 stay-at-home order, Stafford officials will extend building closures through June 10, 2020.
Today, Northam announced he would begin taking some steps to reopen the state on May 15. Stafford’s plans to keep buildings closed change if the as things change in Richmond, county officials maintain.
Stafford utilities will temporarily suspend all water and sewer cutoffs for any non-payment or late payment reasons until further notice.
The state judicial emergency order has also been extended through May 17, 2020, and courts are closed to the public. All court hearings, except for protective orders and juvenile detention cases will be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, the county will continue providing service to residents online through the Stafford website and by phone.
Residents can pay utilities, real estate, and property taxes, and purchase dog tags through the citizen portal. They can also apply for permits activities, billing and account activities, and plan submittal activities. In addition, GIS maps, job listings, court information, and social service resources are available on the website.
