Original post 1:03 p.m. |Â A tractor-trailer has crashed in a work zone on Interstate 95 at the Rappahannock River.
All lanes of I-95 southbound in Stafford County are closed south of Exit 133 (Route 17) interchange, at Falmouth, the Virginia Department of Transportation tells us.
I-95 southbound travelers should expect major delays, VDOT adds.
The agency said they don’t yet know went the roadway could be reopened.
More on this as it becomes available. The crash occurred as road construction crews are working to build new lanes on I-95 between Falmouth and Spotsylvania County, to include a new bridge over the Rappahannock River.
Today’s crash involving a tractor-trailer comes after a Fredericksburg man was killed in a tractor-trailer crash, about 15 miles south of today’s crash, on I-95 in Thornburg.
