2 more suspects jailed in connection armed robberies at area 7-Eleven stores

At least four people are now suspected in a series of armed robberies at 7-Eleven stores near Manassas and in Woodbridge.

Most recently, two men were arrested on April 17, 2020, and were both charged in connection to the robberies while they were already in a Fairfax County jail.

Victor Owusu Obinim, 19, of 4732 Kenmore Avenue in Alexandria, and Michael Ackah, 20, of 5335 Duke Street of Alexandria, both face charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, and usage of a firearm in the crime in connection to the 7-Eleven heists.

Police say the robberies occurred on June 24, 2019, when detectives were called in to investigate a series of armed robberies at two different 7-Eleven locations. One at 7301 Sudley Road near Manassas at 12:24 a.m., and another at 13360 Minnieville Road in Lake Ridge at 2:46 a.m. according to a Prince William police press release.

“In both incidents, the suspects entered the store and approached the counter where they brandished a gun towards the clerk and demanded money. Other suspects appeared to act as lookouts during the encounters. An undisclosed amount of money would be taken before the suspects fled,” stated Prince William police spokeswoman Renee Carr.

According to police, no one was injured in the robberies. On June 29, 2019, there was another attempted robbery at a 7-Eleven at 14517 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge. Nothing was stolen and no one was injured.

A 15-year-old boy was found to be suspect in that incident and taken into custody in connection to the incident. Another suspect was found on July 1, 2019, according to police.

In an unrelated case, the 19-year-old woman escaped abduction from a North Carolina man.

The event occurred on Monday, April 6, when a 19-year-old woman arranged to meet a man at 12700 block of Stone Lined Circle in Lake Ridge. The man approached the woman and broke in through her open window where he then dragged the woman to the backseat of the car, according to Prince William police. The man then got in the car and locked the doors to prevent the woman from getting out, according to police.

“Eventually the victim was able to exit the vehicle and ran to her home where she contacted the police. The accused initially followed the victim with the vehicle but then fled on foot prior to the police arriving in the area,” stated Officer Renee Carr, spokeswoman for Prince William County police department.

The vehicle was found nearby, and police said no one was injured. Officers then obtained arrest warrants for the man and on April 22. Members of the Wake County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina later found the man and arrested him, according to police. He is jailed in North Carolina and will be extradited back to Prince William County, according to police.

Justin Al-Tarique Green, 26, of 16720 Blackjack Oak Lane in Lake Ridge is charged with abduction, assault and battery, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to police. His court date is pending.
