Officer bitten, Maryland man charged with malicious wounding

Valladares Delcid

A fight between two men ended with one in jail, and a police officer was bitten.

Police were called to the 1500 block of James Street in Woodbridge at 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, to investigate a fight between a 32-year-old man who told police someone broke into his home.

Prince William police spokeswoman Renee Carr states in a press release, the suspect broke into the victim’s home and beat him. The fight escalated, and the two men ended up outside where witnesses saw the fight and called police.

“The accused initially left the scene prior to the police arriving at the residence and was located and detained by officers a short distance away,” according to Carr.

The suspect was drunk when brought into questioning, police said.

“When officers attempted to escort the accused to a police cruiser, he actively resisted and refused to follow commands,” Carr states.

The suspect pushed and scratched at the officers when they tried to place him in the vehicle, according to police.

“Prior to being transported, the accused needed to be re-secured after repositioning his arms. The accused spat on the officers before biting another officer on the finger,” stated Carr.

The suspect was finally handcuffed and was driven to jail. The victim was left with injuries to his face and head and was treated at a local hospital.

Noel Valladares Delclid, 37, of Laurel, Md., is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, malicious wounding, destruction of property, and burglary.

Delclid’s court date is scheduled for July 17, 2020, and he is being held without bond.

In an unrelated case, the mother of 2-year-old child is behind bars after she was involved in a fight with a family member, according to police.

Police were called to the Stoney Ridge Apartments, located at 14300 Westminster Lane in Dale City, after a family member, a 42-year-old woman, told police Rogers was drunk and unable to care for her 2-year-old daughter, according to Prince William County Police Officer Spokeswoman, Renee Carr.

The two women broke out into a fight before police arrived, according to police.

“During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim. The parties separated and the police were contacted,” Officer Carr states.

Rogers was drunk and couldn’t speak clearly, according to police. When police tried to handcuff the suspect, she refused, police said.

“While escorting her to a marked police cruiser, she kicked…the officers multiple times,” Officer Carr states.

The suspect bit an officer in the arm while being taken to jail, according to police. The family member who was involved in the fight was not injured, nor was the child, states Carr. Officers suffered minor injuries, she added.

Khadijah Kenyatta Rogers, 26, is charged with child neglect, assault and battery on a police officer, and domestic assault. Police did not yet know when Rogers will appear in court, however, she is being held without bond.
