A fight between two men ended with one in jail, and a police officer was bitten.
Police were called to the 1500 block of James Street in Woodbridge at 1:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, to investigate a fight between a 32-year-old man who told police someone broke into his home.
Prince William police spokeswoman Renee Carr states in a press release, the suspect broke into the victim’s home and beat him. The fight escalated, and the two men ended up outside where witnesses saw the fight and called police.
“The accused initially left the scene prior to the police arriving at the residence and was located and detained by officers a short distance away,” according to Carr.
The suspect was drunk when brought into questioning, police said.
“When officers attempted to escort the accused to a police cruiser, he actively resisted and refused to follow commands,” Carr states.
The suspect pushed and scratched at the officers when they tried to place him in the vehicle, according to police.
“Prior to being transported, the accused needed to be re-secured after repositioning his arms. The accused spat on the officers before biting another officer on the finger,” stated Carr.
The suspect was finally handcuffed and was driven to jail. The victim was left with injuries to his face and head and was treated at a local hospital.

The two women broke out into a fight before police arrived, according to police.
“During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim. The parties separated and the police were contacted,” Officer Carr states.
