On Saturday, April 18th, 2020, Debora Ann Ware; loving wife, daughter, sister, friend, and mother of two, began eternal life at the age of 65.
Debora was born on May 2nd 1954 in Cleveland, OH to Charles G. and Patricia J. McCormick (nee McGinty). Debora was the middle child of three siblings; Laurie Lafferty & Patrick McCormick. Debora and her family were closely rooted in Cleveland, OH for all of her young adult life. Debora attended Notre Dame High School and Cleveland State University. Debora knew at a young age that she wanted to make a difference in the world by helping others. After graduating college with high honors and a Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy, Debora went on to work for several years at Euclid General Hospital – Cleveland Clinic. On August 22nd, 1987, she married the love of her life, Frank Gerard Ware and moved to Virginia to raise two children, Lauren Marie Shively – married to Jacob Wayne Shively – and Lee Patrick Ware. Debora dedicated more than 20 years working full-time in physical therapy for Prince William County Public Schools. She had recently retired in 2018.
Debora was known fondly as Debi by close friends and family. Debi was a passionate a caring person whose kindness and sweetness touched many people. A caregiver by nature, she dedicated her life to volunteering and helping others in need. She will be remembered for her great wit, laugh, and contagious smile. Debi enjoyed feeling the sunshine on her face and the sand between her toes. Debi could be found at home reading a good book or watching a romantic comedy. She appreciated a variety of foods, listening to music (Celine Dion, Josh Groban, and Barbara Streisand to name a few) and having good conversation. She loved to laugh and be surrounded by family, friends and her yellow Labrador retriever, Bella. Debi had so many fond memories of the children and families whose lives she touched over the years. Debi was proud to be such an integral part of a loving community of therapists who made a difference every day. On Saturday, April 18th, Debi’s wings were ready but our hearts were not.
Debora is preceded in death by her father, Charles, her mother, Patricia, and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her children; Lauren and Lee, her siblings; Laurie and Patrick, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service for immediate family held on Friday, May 1st at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Plans are forthcoming for a larger celebration of Debi’s life this summer. If you would like to participate, please contact the family to receive further details. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of the following foundations that held special meaning to Debi: Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA), Autism Speaks or Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center.
