The Riverfest celebration, a new festival to have kicked off in June and replaced the town’s spring craft show, has been postponed to September due to the coronavirus.
Town officials tell Potomac Local News:
After careful consideration for the health and well-being of residents, patrons, businesses, and the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Occoquan has rescheduled their brand-new RiverFest event (originally slated for June) to be combined with the Fall Arts & Crafts Show in September.
The event is newly renamed the Occoquan RiverFest & Craft Show, taking place Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, 2020 and will be a celebration to the end of Summer 2020.
“There is no better way to showcase the might and savvy of Occoquan than to create a new event that brings together our small-town pride, our businesses, and our river-loving values into one spectacular weekend festival full of fresh air and family fun.”
Occoquan’s RiverFest & Craft Show will include an Artisan’s Walk where patrons will be able to browse juried art and craft vendors, as well as visit a vendor marketplace dedicated to conservation and outdoor water sports. The event will feature activities such as live entertainment, two food courts, a beer garden, a shrimp boil, river cruises, a climbing wall, and stand-up paddleboard and kayak slalom races.
The health and well-being of residents, patrons, merchants, and community is paramount. The Town of Occoquan will continue to closely monitor information from the CDC and local health and government authorities as the summer progresses, in order to make decisions about this and other town events.
