There’s a new way to help doctors and nurses on the front lines of the coronavirus fight: purchase a six-pack of beer.
The folks at Waters End Brewery in Lake Ridge will brew a new beer in response to the coronavirus outbreak and will donate a portion of the proceeds to purchase new personal protective equipment for Northern Virginia hospital workers.
The brewery tells us:
Water’s End Brewery and Beltway Brewing Company have partnered to brew a beer dedicated to helping our local healthcare heroes currently on the frontline fighting COVID-19.
PPE (People Performing under Extreme conditions) will be available in six-packs, with $6 from each pack donated to the Inova COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness Fund.
This fund is currently being used in part to supply healthcare workers with personal protective equipment, of which our country faces an urgent national shortage.
The brewery is located at 12425 Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge. It has placed the details on the donation process, information on the INOVA Health Fund, and details on how to purchase this brew on its website, ppebeer.com.
Late last month, Waters End began refilling its growlers at its brewery, selling them to their customers, for the first time, in a drive-through lane.
As of today, there are 4,509 reported cases of coronavirus in Virginia, with 121 reported deaths.
The CDC says there are a few simple things you can do to stop the spread of the disease.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Inspired by local physicians who were among the nation’s first to adopt the concierge medicine model, Northern Virginia is now a hub for its surging popularity. These leading physicians are redefining the patient experience with same-day appointments, direct availability, unhurried visits, and deeply personalized care:
After almost 40 years in practice, Manassas-based Internist John Cary, MD’s change to concierge medicine enabled focused attention for each individual, and the launch of his innovative diet program for those with type 2 diabetes. “The goal is to promote enough weight loss to reach an acceptable A1C of 6% with no medication,” he explains. “Achieving that can take several months of very close follow up. As I tell my patients, we are in this together.”
Jay Tyroler, MD considers his patients quite literally as family. “I believe there’s nothing more honorable than helping patients when they’re sick, or scared, or feeling vulnerable, and I care for them exactly as I would my loved ones.” Whether for a specialist referral, urgent health issue or ongoing follow up, “My patients know I’m always just a phone call away.”
