Nokesville Day canceled this year due to coronavirus spread

Nokesville Day, an annual day to celebrate all things rural in the fast-growing Prince William County suburbs – is canceled this year.

Event organizer Mark Olsen said the event is canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The event had been scheduled to take place on May 16 with a parade down Fitzwater Drive, in the tiny village of Nokesville.

In previous years, a parade fills Fitzwater Drive at 11 a.m. The road is closed to traffic, and onlookers fill the sidewalks and cheer as parade floats pass by.

Live musicians and vendors have also been a part of the festival in years past.

Nokesville Day dates back to at least the 1920s.

Nokesville is located on Route 28, eight miles west of Manassas.
