Items at gas station smashed; man, 19 charged

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Sunoco gas station Someone after someone began smashing the merchandise.

Authorities were called at 1:46 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2020, to 488 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford. The owner of the gas station told them that after the man ransacked the place, he sped away in an older model white sedan, according to Stafford sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo.

About a mile and a half away from the gas station in the 100 block of Babcock Road in the Sky Terrace neighborhood, deputies were called to a separate report of a fight. When they arrived deputies spotted the car they believed to used in the incident at the gas station, said Vicinanzo.

With the driver still behind the wheel, the car accelerated and nearly struck the cruiser, said Vicinanzo.

Deputies pursued the car for just over a tenth of a mile, ending with the suspect striking a parked vehicle and driving into a wooden fence. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
A K9 unit and the drone team arrived and attempted to track the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

This morning, deputies located the suspect in the area of a Target store, located at 25 South Gateway Drive, about 13 miles away from the Sunoco, and took him into custody.

Marcus Todd, 19, of Fredericksburg, is charged with charges of felony eluding, felony hit and run, and driving on a suspended license, and was incarcerated in the Rappahannock Regional Jail, said Viciannzo.
