They’ll be getting the new uniforms in 2020.
- The Stafford County Board of Supervisors approved the renewal of a contract to purchase new uniforms and personal protective gear in an $80,000 contract with Witmer Public Safety Group Inc.
- The new uniforms will be flame-retardant which is in line with industry standards, the previous uniforms were not flame-retardant.
- They will be identical in look to the previous uniforms.
Back in January 2017, the county made an invitation to bid for the purchase and delivery of new uniforms.
- Witmer was awarded a portion of the contract to provide not just uniforms but other protective gear such as helmets, fire boots, etc.
- Witmer is a Philadelphia-based company that specializes in public safety equipment and supplies.
In addition to uniforms and gear, they provide other services such as custom graphics designs, in-home embroidery, and multi-truck service teams.
The initial term for the contract was for one year with the Fiscal Year 2020 is the second of an optional four years on the contract with a possible one-year renewal at the end of the four years.
