A long time, active member of Cranford United Methodist Church, Jean Dunlop Cummins has gone to be with our Lord. Jean left this earth on September 15, 2019 after serving the Lord for 91 faithful years.
Jean was born on July 23, 1928 in Michigan. She met her husband and love of her life Robert Lyle Cummins in California when she was sitting on the steps in the rooming house they both lived in. When he saw her sitting there, he knew she was the one. From that moment on they spent all their free time together. It was not long before Bob proposes to her and she said yes. They were married on May 26, 1956 and welcomed a son, Glenn on 6-12-1957 into their lives. Three years later they welcomed their daughter, Sandra on 10-20-1960. Their family was now complete.
In 1992 Sandra and Bob moved to Virginia living in Warrenton for 10 years. They then moved to Springfield where they resided until 2006. The final place they moved to was Lorton where she was living at the time of her passing.
Jean was an effortlessly beautiful, loving, elegant woman who loved flowers and spending time in her garden. She enjoyed swimming, snorkeling, sewing, quilting and making delicious casseroles. While in California both she and Bob were active members of the Sets and Steps Square Dancing Group. Her love of snorkeling would often find her in Hawaii with her husband enjoying the beautiful ocean scenery.
Jean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert “Bob” Lyle Cummins, her son Glenn Cummins and her daughter Sandra Cummins-Haid and her husband Allen Haid and their children Tom Haid and Valerie English. She is also survived by her loving great grandchildren Ziporah Haid and Arthor Haid.
Her service will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2019 starting at 2PM at Cranford United Methodist Church in Lorton, VA. Interment will follow at Cranford Church Cemetery.
