Leon Elwood Hines, age 85 of Manassas, VA died on August 22, 2019 at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center.
He was born on February 12, 1934 in Petersburg, WV to the late William Vance Hines and Ethel Vance Hines. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children Jennifer Hines, Richard D. Hines and Christine Hines and by his sister Diane “Ann” Hardy.
He is survived by his wife Alice Mary Hines; his children Catherine McCarthy, Mark Hines, Laura Fielding Hudson, Michael Hines and Maureen Tickle; his siblings Harold “Pete” Hines, Kenith “Joe” Hines, Roger Hines, Donald “Don” Hines and Norma “Jean” Halterman. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM followed by interment in Stonewall Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202
